"We don't just try to sell. We try to provide information. Given good information, customers are able to make the right choice for themselves."
Ron Trzcinski was born in an ethnic borough on the southeast side of Cleveland. He attended Benedictine High School and graduated in 1962. He then worked in construction before obtaining a job in accounting and computers. During this time, he also attended night school at Cleveland State University. Afterwards, Ron earned an MBA from the University of Virginia and received several prestigious job offers. He decided to accept a position with Ohio Sealy and began his career there in 1971.
Ron worked for Ohio Sealy, now known as Sealy, Inc., for 18 years. He became its president and chief operating officer in 1982, when he was 37 years old, and was instrumental in making it the nation's largest mattress company. After the company underwent a leveraged buy out, however, new attitudes and business philosophies convinced Ron that it was time to leave. As such, he resigned from his position and decided to begin a business of his own.
In 1990, Ron brought his expertise in the mattress industry, as well as his firm belief in integrity, to bear and created The Original Mattress Factory (OMF). Working with his partners, he focused on building the highest quality mattresses possible, but removed the middle man to reduce costs and sell direct to the public. The business, which began in Cleveland, has now expanded to 11 Original Mattress Factory locations and over 100 showrooms. Every partner who joins the company shares Ron's ideas and convictions about selling mattresses fairly and honestly. Moreover, we are always looking for new ways to improve The Original Mattress Factory's products and services in ways that are mutually beneficial to the customer and the company.
